How the maths works
The calculator does exactly three things: it builds the fee base, applies every active fee, then subtracts your costs. No hidden steps.
Optional fees such as promotions are excluded from those percentages until you switch them on, because they only apply to a share of orders. When enabled, they simply add to the rate.
What this calculator leaves out
- Referral fee is 15% for most categories, with a $0.30 minimum, confirmed against Amazon's fee table.
- Fulfilment fees by size tier and monthly storage are still unconfirmed — treat them as estimates.
- Inbound placement, removal and returns processing fees are not modelled.
- The $39.99 professional account fee is pre-filled in monthly fixed costs — set it to 0 if you are on the individual plan.
Common questions
How do I know which size tier my product is in?
Size tiers are based on packaged dimensions and weight, not the product alone. Measure the box you ship in, including packaging. The difference between tiers is large enough that a packaging redesign is sometimes worth more than a price increase.
Is the referral fee charged on shipping?
The referral fee is calculated on the total sales price, which normally includes shipping charged to the customer. If you sell FBA, the customer usually pays shipping inside the price, so the referral fee applies to that full amount.
Why does storage appear as a per-unit fee?
Storage is billed monthly by volume, not per sale. This calculator converts it into an approximate per-unit cost so it can sit alongside the other per-order fees. For slow-moving inventory the real number is much higher.
